How To Make Delicious Dorayaki Cake from Doraemon TV Series



Perhaps, in the childhood of each of us, we held in our hand the comic books about a lovely robotic cat called Doraemon with magical items, which is extremely funny and, sometimes, touching story.

Do you know what Doraemon’s favorite dish is? I think that you all may know it. Dorayaki is Doraemon’s favorite dish that can often be seen in the comic books and movies. Do you know how its taste is? Today, I am going to show you how to make a delicious Dorayaki cake which I am sure that, you will like it right from the first piece. Let’s start!





Ingredients:

- 160g wheat flour

- 50g red beans (*Note: this ingredient is to make filling for Dorayaki, you can also use chocolate, green bean or sweet potato instead, etc).

- 0.5 liter of water

- 170g ground sugar 

- 30 ml honey

- 4g baking powder = 1 teaspoon baking powder (check expiration date first)

- 4 eggs

Procedure:

Step 1:

- Wash the red beans, then soak them into the water overnight.This will shorten cooking time significantly. (*Note: if you use pressure cooker to cook the beans, you do not need to soak them overnight).

- Next put 50g red beans in a pot and pour approximately 0.5 liter of water in it then cook them until they are soft, then switch off the stove and allow them to cool.



Step 2:

- Next put the cooked red bean part with its water in a blender to grind. After grinding, pour it into a pan and add 30g ground sugar to the red bean part. Then cook it until it is condensed (*Note: cook the mixture with small fire and stir it constantly while cooking).



Step 4:

- Crack 4 eggs in a bowl and add the remaining 140g ground sugar with 30 ml honey to the bowl of eggs. Then use a whisk to beat them until they are mixed together. 

- Next, use a sifter to sieve 160g wheat flour into the bowl of mixture and add 4g baking powder to the mixture and continue to beat them until they are smooth.

- After finishing, use a piece of food wrap to cover up the bowl for about 20 minutes. (*Note: after 20 minutes, you have to add 115ml water to the mixture, then stir well the mixture one more time before frying. This will help the mixture to be not too condensed.)



Step 5:

- Pour a little bit of cooking oil in a pan then use an oil absorbent paper to spread a thin layer of cooking oil on the surface of the pan. 



Step 6:

- Next use a ladle to pour small parts of the mixture in the pan slowly as image below, then put a lid on the pan and fry the Dorayaki cake with small fire for about 2 minutes. (*Note: you should do one by one).

- After 2 minutes, turn over it and it would be about 1 minute for the other side. After finishing the first one, continue to pour the mixture in the pan to fry the second one.

 (*Note: When frying the next ones, there are two things you should take a notice of: 1. There is no need to add the cooking oil. 2. Use an oil absorbent paper to wipe out the stains on surface of the pan).



Step 7:

- Next, put the red bean mixture in the middle of two slices of the cakes. Then, push two slices of Dorayaki slightly so that they stick together.



Dorayaki is a suitable dish for children that has many nutritional values and it is also easy to make.
